Mr. LaMont Emmanuel Walker joined the Kansas City Boys Choir as one of the original members in 1995. After four fantastic years of performance experience, LaMont graduated from the choir and the Metro Tech high school in 1999. Upon graduating, LaMont enrolled at the University of Missouri-Columbia and completed his college career in 2005 graduating with a Bachelor’s of Arts degree with an emphasis on vocal performance. While at Mizzou, LaMont was the head director of the university’s historic Legion of Black Collegians gospel choir. Unbeknownst to him, he was treading a path that had been graced by one of his greatest mentors Mr. Ah’Lee Robinson. His final semesters at Mizzou afforded him the opportunity to become one of the pioneering members of the university’s first show choir, the For All We Call Mizzou singers. This group reawakened LaMont’s performance and professional skills he learned while being a member of the Kansas City Boys Choir. The For All We Call Mizzou singers are apart of the university’s $1 billion dollar campaign and have allowed LaMont to share his vocal talents in places such as San Diego & Los Angeles California, Dallas, TX and Naples, Florida to name a few.
LaMont is currently serving as the pastor of music ministry at United Community Cathedral where his pastor is the Bishop Dr. R. L. Freeman. He has been faithfully serving this ministry since 2002, but has been a member since 1999. Since being an active participant at United, LaMont became a licensed minister in 2004 and an ordained elder in 2005. |
